Government Abuse of Injured Military Benefit’s Program

We have recently filed suit against the United States government in a series of cases for failing to pay military veterans benefits.  Recently, Dross Berman has partnered with attorney Peter Cameron (out of San Diego, CA) as local counsel in a new type of litigation called “Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance Traumatic Injury Protection” claims.

We are thankful for the sacrifice that the men and women in our military make daily.  When our servicemembers sign up to serve, our country makes a lot of promises to these heroes.  One relatively new benefit that our military has earned is the “Traumatic Injury Protection Program”.  Under this plan, any military member who suffers a severe injury because of a traumatic event is entitled to a one-time disability payment of anywhere between $25,000 and $100,000.  While this program used to only include injuries occurred in Iraq or Afghanistan, the program was relatively recently expanded to include any traumatic injury regardless of whether it occurred within the line of duty.

Unfortunately, like many of the promises that our government makes to our veterans, we are seeing that this benefit is far too often being unreasonably denied.  To make matters worse, the government has developed a system of red tape and bureaucracy which makes it difficult to recover if you haven’t submitted very specific documentation prior to the final denial.

Dross Berman LLC is humbled to be some of the first attorneys to file cases to hold the United States government accountable for failing to keep its end of the bargain.  It is important to note that the law requires very specific documentation to be provided to the government prior to filing suit.  To protect your claim, it is essential to speak with an attorney prior to submitting your initial application.

If you, or a loved one is a veteran or active duty military, and has been severely injured in an accident, Dross Berman LLC would be honored to offer a free consultation to determine if you qualify for this benefit.  Please call us at 240-403-7200.
